Zion Keppel is the fourth and last of The Way It Was series. There are twenty drawings and many old photos. This book tells how the earliest school board opened and managed the Flarity School, the first for Zion Keppel. Old school photos from the 1920s show grandparents when they were children. It continues with remembrances that took place between 1940 and 1960. |
Lake Charles, The Way It Was, is the third in my series. It takes readers back in time to when the hamlet was first settled. Lake Charles once had a school, public library, a general store, a post office and a church. Dozens of early settlers got their supplies at that small community. Hard working, ingenious and determined people made their new homes near Lake Charles.
In July 2019, Big Bay & North Keppel, The Way It Was became the second book in the series to be published by The Brucedale Press. It chronicles the lives of settlers in the village of Big Bay and the pioneers out in the North Keppel farming community. There are family photographs, illustrations and maps. Lucky, the black cat can be found in every drawing.
- Oxenden, The Way it Was is a collection of stories about the founders and growth of the village
- between the mid 1800's to 1950. It outlines the lives of pioneers and their families as they formed and built a thriving community. I illustrated it with images of original homes, industries and businesses that prospered at the time.
